Tamaqua police called to school for student assault

Tamaqua Police were called to the Tamaqua Area High School on Monday after a 15 year-old girl assaulted another female student.

During the assault, police said the victim’s nose was broken.

According to police, the 15-year-old said a group chat with other female students included the juveniles saying bad things about each other.

Police said that during health class, the 15-year-old hit another girl in the face with a large beverage mug made of plastic and metal. Police said a video shows the girl continuing to punch the victim in the head and face, pull her around by her hair, and kick her in the head and face.

Police said the video did not show any assault on the offender by the victim.

The victim suffered a broken nose and bruising on her head and facial area.

Police said the suspect had a written allegation filed for misdemeanor charge of simple assault and a summary charge of harassment.
