Flag lessons

The Carbon County Navy Club talked to fourth through seventh graders at the Weatherly Area Elementary/Middle School about the flag Tuesday morning.

Navy Club Commander Scott Reinhart led the presentation with members Robert Siesputowski and Anthony Onichimowski working with students, who helped display and handle the flags.

Reinhart explained how the flag has changed over the years, and taught the students how to fold a flag, how to display a flag, and properly care for the flag.

The Navy Club, which has been visiting schools throughout Carbon County this month, has been teaching students about the flag for more than a decade.

Carol Etheridge, constituent advocate for U.S. Rep. Susan Wild, also presented the school with a flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol during the program.
