Dinner raises funds for chapel repairs

The Sword Tag Society held its 12th Annual Spaghetti Dinner Saturday evening at the Lehighton Recreation Center. In addition to the dinner, there was a basket raffle and a bake sale.

“This is one of our main fundraisers that helps our group, a nonprofit organization, that does a lot of community activities,” explained Mike Muffley of Lehighton, a founding member of the society since 1996.

“The group is working on restoring the Normal Square Chapel. It’s an old church that was in disrepair. This is one of the main undertakings of the group that we have been working on for a number of years. The main focus now is restoring the roof,” Muffley said.

The Sword Tag Society focuses on medieval mock fighting, a little bit of role playing; but, also serves the local community in a variety of activities.
