‘Something for everyone’ was a flea market delight

It was called the “Something For Everyone Sale” at the West End Fairgrounds over the weekend; and indeed, they did have things for just about anyone.

People had flea market tables set up selling everything from air conditioners to zebra print clothing. There was glassware, dishes, pots and pans, clothing, toys and hobbies, baking pans, pedal cars, storage bins, baseball cards and sports memorabilia, and so much more.

Michele Miller from Slatington and Trish DePue from Palmerton were looking over items at the tables, carrying bags of items they had already bought.

“I’m looking for stuff for my granddaughter, who is on her way,” DePue said. “We found some nice bargains here.”

Amanda Kresge from the Gilbert area had tables set up with all kinds of ceramics, dishware, toys, and more.

“This is our first year,” she said. “We don’t do a lot of these kinds of sales; but, we just had some things we wanted to sell.”

Crafters had many beautiful handmade items for sale; such as jewelry, candles, homemade candies, wood crafts, T-shirts and hats, and so much more.

The Pocono Mountains Art Group had a tent with a show and sale of paintings and other art work.

Several nonprofit organizations were on hand as well, such as the local chapter of Quilts of Valor, Pocono Mountain 88526 chapter. Barbara Rodgers, fundraising chair, and Kathleen McCarthy, group admin Facilitator, had a table set up to let people know about their organization and were raffling off a beautiful handmade quilt that was donated by the Myrtle Beach Shore Birds, a chapter of the Quilts of Valor. The money raised will be used to make more quilts.

“We make quilts and we give them to veterans,” Rodgers explained. “Our goal is to wrap our veterans in quilts.”

Several food trucks and vendors were there to sell everything from burgers and fries, ice cream, fried chicken, shrimp, steak sandwiches, hot dogs, sausage sandwiches, funnel cakes, and more
