State police at Frackville - crashes

State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:

• Police said the driver of a 2014 Mazda CX-5 was involved in a crash involving a deer at 8:33 p.m. March 28 on Lafayette Avenue (Route 54) in Rush Township.

Police did not identify the driver but said no injuries occurred in the incident. Police said the car was westbound when the driver swerved to avoid striking a deer in the roadway. The vehicle went off the road and struck an embankment. The vehicle was able to be driven from the scene.

• Two people had minor injuries when a vehicle they were in struck two vehicles as the driver was attempting to flee police at 8:20 p.m. March 30 on South Spencer Road in West Mahanoy Township.

Police said Dennis J. Williamson, 41, of Rome, New York, was driving a 2007 GMC Canyon when he was attempting to elude police. Police said the vehicle came to rest after striking a 2022 Dodge Charger and a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox that were legally parked in the area of South Spencer Street and the Morea Road.

The vehicles sustained minor damages, Williamson and his passenger, Jennifer A. Schellerer, 37, of Holland Patent, New York, were transported by personnel from the Frackville Community Ambulance Association to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville, but were released without needing serious treatment.

• Police said a hit-and-run crash happened at 4:42 p.m. March 18 on Interstate 81 in Cass Township.

A 52-year-old man from Stillwater reported the incident, After leaving the scene the driver was apprehended about 10 miles from the crash site and arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and other related traffic offenses.

• Santos R. Tonche, 31, of Saint Clair, was cited after a crash at 4:34 a.m. March 23 on Skyline Drive in Blythe Township.

Police said he was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu southbound when he lost control of it as it hydroplaned on the wet roadway. The car struck an embankment off the right side of the road and was towed from the scene. No injuries reported.

• Marieli Romero-Martinez, 34, of Hazleton, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 9:09 a.m. March 23 on Claremont Avenue (Route 39) in Hometown, Rush Township.

Police said she was driving a 2007 Honda CRV southbound when she lost control of it and it crossed over the concrete center median, went off the road and traveled up an embankment where it struck a tree. The car had disabling damages and was towed from the scene.
