2 people hurt in Route 61 crash

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 2:49 p.m. April 9 on Route 61 in North Manheim Township.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said John J. Murray, 83, of Orwigsburg, was transported by personnel from the Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven Area EMS corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville.

Police said Donald R. Dillman, 79, of Frackville, has possible injuries and was taken by the ambulance corps to the Geisinger-St. Luke’s Hospital, Orwigsburg.

They said the crash happened when Murray, driving a 2011 Ford Escape attempted to make a right turn onto Route 61 and failed to stop prior to entering the highway from a gas station. They said the Escape was struck by a 2016 Dodge Caravan driven by Dillman.

Both vehicles had disabling damages, police said.

They said Murray was cited for the crash.
