Hiker rescue along Appalachian Trail

The Aquashicola Fire Company and Carbon medics are on the Blue Mountain along the Appalachian Trail on a rescue of an injured hiker who suffered a leg injury.

According to reports on the scene, the hiker fell and punctured his leg on a tree limb. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. as he was hiking the Blue Mountain along the Appalachian Trail above Route 248 in Lower Towamensing Township. Rescuers decided to enter the mountain from Blue Mountain Drive near the Blue Mountain Ski Lodge and travel the top of the mountain nearly five miles to the area of the victim.
