State police at Hazleton

State police at the Hazleton barracks reported the following incidents:

• A 41-year-old Weatherly woman reported an identity theft incident that police.

Police said the Packer Drive resident reported someone opened a Verizon Wireless account in her name between Feb. 28 and March 9.

• A 27-year-old woman from Tamaqua was cited for disorderly conduct after police were summoned to the T-Mobile Store in the Laurel Mall, Hazle Township, on March 11.

Police said they were told the woman entered the store and caused a disturbance to other customers by yelling at store employees.

• A 53-year-old Tamaqua man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police made a traffic stop at 8:45 p.m. March 29.

He was stopped in a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado on Pine Street in Banks Township.

• A 42-year-old woman from Weatherly is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop police made at 12:45 a.m. March 28.

She was stopped in a 2020 Nissan Titan on Wayne Street in West Hazleton.

• A 53-year-old Tresckow woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after police stopped her for several Motor Vehicle Code violations at 1:01 a.m. March 25.

She was stopped in a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado on Spruce Street in Hazleton, After which time police said it was determined she was impaired to a degree that deemed her incapable of safe driving.

• A 29-year-old Hazle Township man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop police made at 7:45 p.m. March 25.

He was stopped in a 1999 Dodge Chrysler on East Market Street in Banks Township.

• Police said a 31-year-old man from Brooklyn, New York, is the victim of a vehicle fire that police and firemen responded to at 1:57 a.m. March 13 at the intersection of Fireline Road and Hudson Drive in Packer Township. Police said troopers were called to assist the Citizen’s Fire Company, Weatherly, which responded to the fire in a 2018 Honda CRV. They said suspects fled the scene prior to the firemen and police arriving on site

.• Jennifer Hayes, 53, of White Haven, was cited for retail theft (shoplifting) after police were called to the Walmart store in Hazle Township at 4:29 p.m. March 20.

Police said she was caught stealing $83.60 worth of merchandise from the store.

• A 50-year-old man from Hazle Township is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop police made at 1:24 a.m. March 20. He was stopped in a 1999 Dodge Chrysler on Swamp Street in Beaver Meadows.
