Local roundup: Results from April 10

The Panther Valley and Pleasant Valley baseball teams both earned wins on Wednesday, while Northern Lehigh posted a softball victory.

BASEBALL

Panther Vy.-Mahanoy

Hayden Goida had four hits and two RBIs to lead Panther Valley to a 9-2 Schuylkill League victory over Mahanoy Area.

Goida had a two-run single in the third that gave Panther Valley a 3-0 lead. Brennan Kunkel added two hits for the Panthers, who moved to 4-1 on the season.

Brady Jones, Tyler Black, and Stephen Hood combined to limit Mahanoy (2-2) to four hits.

Northern Lehigh-Wilson

Wilson routed Northern Lehigh 22-0 in Colonial League play.

For the Warrriors (3-4), Gavin Partridge had three hits and three RBIs, and Shaun Danielson and Gunner Scheetz each had three hits and two RBIs.

Northern Lehigh (1-4) was held to one hit and committed 10 errors.

Pleasant Vy.-Stroudsburg

Pleasant Valley staked itself to 5-0 lead after four innings, and held off a Stroudsburg flurry for a 9-8 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory.

Dakoda Lucas and Royce Thompson each had two RBIs for the Bears (3-5).

Jackson Brancato and Paul Maccarrone had two hits apiece for the Mountaineers (3-3).

SOFTBALL

Pleasant Valley- Stroudsburg

Elizabeth Molinaro’s single in the bottom of the ninth gave Stroudsburg a 15-14 shootout victory over Pleasant Valley in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference action.

Pleasant Valley took a 14-10 lead into the bottom of the seventh, but Stroudsburg erupted for four runs to tie the game.

Sam Ratti had three hits and four RBIs for Pleasant Valley (3-3). Brianca Pridham added three hits and two RBIs for the Bears, while Allison Borger added three hits, Rylan Knapp connected for two hits and two RBIs and Danica Getz finished with two hits.

Molinaro and Isabella Thomas each had four hits, and Vanessa DeFalco had three hits for the Mountaineers. Dorothy Elko, Jordan Cook, Sierra Thieme, and Allison Willis each added two hits.

Panther Vy.-Mahanoy

Mikayala Yuricheck had a big day at the plate, but Panther Valley couldn’t hold a lead in a 10-9 Schuylkill League loss to Mahanoy in eight innings.

Yuricheck was 5-for-5 and added four RBIs, and Janessa Prudente and Morgan Orsulak each had three hits for the Panthers (1-1). Prudente added two RBIs, and Kyla McQuillen and Myla Krapf each chipped in with two hits.

Panther Valley took a 9-7 lead into the bottom of the eighth, but Mahanoy (1-2) rallied for three runs for the victory.

Kayla Long rapped three hits, and Naomi Kowalick had two hits and three RBIs for Mahanoy. Ella Brode added two hits.

No. Lehigh-Wilson

Northern Lehigh built an early lead and then held off Wilson late for a 7-6 Colonial League victory.

Haylie Fenstermaker had three hits and multiple RBIs to help Northern Lehigh cling to a 6-1 lead after two innings. Wilson rallied for four runs in the fifth and one in the seventh, but the Warriors fell short.

Emma Smith went the distance for the Bulldogs, who raised their record to 3-2.

Addison Hoff and Anna Schmitt each had two hits for Wilson (4-2).
