Local Roundup: Results from April 8

Lehighton and Pleasant Valley cruised to softball victories on Monday.

SOFTBALL

Executive Education-Lehighton

Maggie Pagotto collected three hits as Lehighton gained a 10-2 non-league victory over Executive Education.

Two of Pagotto’s hits were doubles and the Indians’ leadoff hitter also scored a pair of runs and had five stolen bases.

Eryn Mertz was on base four times with two hits, one a triple, and two walks. She scored three times and swiped four bases.

The winners, now 2-5, also received two hits and two RBIs from Brynn Mriss.

Addison Chavanic earned the win, tossing three hitless innings while striking out five. Ava Trach relieved and pitched the final four frames, allowing three hits while fanning three.

Central Catholic-Pleasant Valley

Lydia Borger had two hits and knocked in five runs to power Pleasant Valley to a 15-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Allentown Central Catholic.

Borger also walked, stole two bases and scored twice for the Bears, who improved to 3-1.

The winnersalso received a double and three RBIs from Jovi Valenzuela.

Winning pitcher Kailyn Getz allowed just three hits and struck out nine. Offensively, she scored four times and knocked in one.

Marian-Dunmore

Dunmore handed Marian its first loss of the year, posting a 13-3 non-league win on Sunday.

Paige Ancherani had a pair of hits for the Bucks, while Jackie Brown blasted a home run.

Danica Karlick, Morgan Kelly and Malina Letcher all had hits for the Fillies (3-1).

Central Catholic-Pleasant Valley

Matt Rader and Anthony Grigoli combined on a four-hitter to lead Central Catholic to a 5-2 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Pleasant Valley.

The Bears scored the game’s first run in the home first, but the Vikings countered with four unanswered runs over the next three frames.

Kole Henry collected two hits, one a double, for PV (2-4) while Braydon Green added a hit and a run.

Central Catholic blanked Pleasant Valley, 6-0, in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference action.

The Vikings (7-4) won every match contested in straight sets.

The loss dropped the Bears to 7-4.

JR. HIGH SOFTBALL

Panther Vy.-North Schuylkill

North Schuylkill swept Panther Valley in a doubleheader. The Spartans won the first game 5-1 and edged PV 5-4 in the second game.

Savannah Pierce had a hit and a run for the Panthers in the opener, while pitcher Paige Goida finished with eight strikeouts. In the second game, Goida had two hits and three RBIs, while Isabella D’Ancona added a hit and scored two runs.
