April 8, 1999 - Tamaqua’s track teams pull off a double sweep, as the girls and boys teams both defeat Marian and Panther Valley. Noel Powell captures three individual events - 100, 200, long jump - and anchors the winning 400 relay team to pace the Blue Raiders boys squad. Brian Cipko also contributes a pair of wins, taking the 800 and 1600. Lori Zehner aids the Tamaqua girls victories with firsts in both the shot put and discus. Other Raider wins come from Keith Davis (3200), Jim Barron (300 hurdles), James Anderson (high jump), Jen Paisley (1600), Alice Krasely (3200), Shavonne Clemens (100 hurdles) and Margaret Benny (300 hurdles).
