Ross Twp. supervisors accept two bids for road projects

The Ross Township supervisors opened five bids for road work projects during Monday’s meeting.

“We have about $249,000 from this year’s liquid fuels allotment,” said David Shay, vice chairman.

Four of the bids were competing for black topping projects on sections of Stonehill Lane and Evergreen Court.

James D. Morrissey Inc. had the lowest bid, which was $186,465.00. The higher bids were from the H & K Group, Bruce George Paving & Excavating and Bracalente Construction.

Supervisors passed the motion to accept Morrissey’s bid. The work includes a scratch/leveling course and a wearing course.

Supervisors said they will wait to see the Council of Governments’ price on the 4-inch double yellow centerline with glass beads, which tends to be half the price of the bids given by paving companies.

The fifth bid was from Asphalt Maintenance Solutions to do tar and chipping on two sections of Anchorage Road. It was about $51,000.

The spring road work will also include fixing Blue Ridge Road. .
