Tamaqua MS presents Spring Choral Concert

The Tamaqua Area Middle School Music Department will present its annual “Spring Choral Concert” on Thursday, April 4 at 7 p.m. in the Tamaqua Area Auditorium. The concert will feature performances by the middle school 6th, 7th and 8th Grade General Chorus, and the 7th & 8th Grade Select Chorus.

The General Chorus will start the show with “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon. “Better Place” by Rachel Platten follows. “Music Speaks,” a song about the power of music, is the chorus’s third selection. “Anyway,” a hit song by country superstar Martina McBride closes the General Chorus’s set.

The 7th & 8th Grade Select Chorus takes the stage to sing “Rhythm of Love.” “Tin Man” by Miranda Lambert follows. The chorus then will sing “The Journey,” a partner song featuring the well known melodies of “Simple Gifts” and “Going Home” in a moving choral selection by Joseph Martin. “Treat People with Kindness” by Harry Styles is next and sends a timely musical message to all. The concert comes to a close with the chorus singing “The Climb,” as recorded by pop superstar Miley Cyrus.

The middle school choirs are under the direction of John Buglio.

The concert is free and open to the public. Doors to the auditorium will open at 6:30 p.m.
