State police at Bethlehem - crashes

State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following crashes:

• A 17-year-old Slatington boy was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 4:45 p.m. March 20 on Mauch Chunk Road in North Whitehall Township.

Police said he was transported after the crash by his father to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township. They said he had a laceration to his head and hands but refused treatment by the Northampton Regional Emergency Medical Services corps.

Police said the crash occurred when the teen, driving a 1995 Honda Civic northbound, was traveling too fast for conditions and was unable to stop his vehicle, which entered the southbound lane of travel and struck a 1993 Mack Tuck driven by John M. Belles, 27, of Allentown.

Police said due to the damage caused by the crash, the teen was mechanically removed from the Honda by volunteers from the Schnecksville Fire Company. The vehicle was towed from the scene while the Mack had minimal damages.

Police said the teen was cited for the crash.

• Police said the driver of a 2017 Range Rover who entered the intersection of Old Post Road and Balliet Street in North Whitehall Township and struck a 2018 Jeep Compass was issued a warning for stop signs and yield signs.”

It happened at 9:36 p.m. March 20. Police said both vehicles had functional damages.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 6:30 a.m. March 21 on Oakwood Lane in North Whitehall Township.

Police said the 2018 Honda Civic driven by Luis A. Martinez, 32, of Slatington, and a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta operated by Tyler J. Nemeth, 36, of Germansville.

Police did not provide any other details of the incident.

• Cierra J. Merrill, 25, of Kunkletown, was cited after a crash at 4:53 p.m. March 21 on West Main Boulevard (Route 248) in Allen Township.

Police said Scott D. Winkler, 40, of Lehighton, who was one of the drivers of the vehicles, was transported by personnel from the Northampton Regional Emergency Medical Services corps to the Lehigh V alley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem, after the incident.

They said Merrill was driving a 2022 Kia Sportage northbound when it “rear-ended” a 2017 Nissan Sentra operated by Winkler after he slowed down for traffic in front of him.

• Two vehicles were damaged in a collision at 7:58 a.m. March 12 at the intersection of Route 209 and the parking lot of Katie Macalush Family Restaurant in Heidelberg Township.

Police said a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2011 Nissan Juke struck each other and had minor damages.

• Jose Rodriguez-Diaz, 52, of Effort, was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 5:11 a.m. March 14 at the intersection of North Walnut and Northampton streets in the Bath. No one was hurt in the incident.

Police said Rodriguez-Diaz was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro east on Northampton Street when it went through a steady red light signal directly into the path of a 2024 GMC driven by Kimberly A. Kimmick, 51, of Brodheadsville, who was northbound on South Walnut Street at the time.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 6:09 a.m. March 19 at the intersection of Airport and Catasauqua roads in Hanover Township.

Police said it happened when a 2022 Hyundai Tucson operated by Sandra J. Sigafoos, 55, of Coplay, traveling south on Airport Road, failed to yield the right of way to a 2014 GMC Terrain driven by Dennis D. Graver, 63, of Slatington, and attempted to turn left onto Catasauqua Road, causing the collision.

Police said the Tucson was towed from the scene.

They said Sigafoos refused treatment at the scene despite a suspected minor back injury.

She was cited for the crash.

• Police said the driver of a vehicle that struck a mailbox at 6:14 p.m. March 2 off Old Post Road in Washington Town ship fled the scene.

They said the vehicle was northbound when the driver apparently failed to operate it at a safe speed. The vehicle crossed over the southbound land and struck the mailbox before coming to rest off the roadway.

• Two vehicles were damaged in an incident at 3:42 p.m. March 5 at the intersection of Mountain and Furnace roads in Washington Township. No one was injured in the incident.

Police said it happened when the driver of a 2015 Nissan Rogue turned directly in front of a 2024 Freightliner that was westbound on Mountain Road. They said the driver of the Freightliner was unable to stop in time and hit the Rogue.

Police said the Rogue sustained heavy damages while the Freightliner had minor damages.

The driver of the Rogue was cited.

• Victoria L. Spangenberg, 33, of Kunkletown, was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 4:26 p.m. March 6 at the intersection of Route 873 and Schneck Road in North Whitehall Township. No one was injured in the incident.

Police said she was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox northbound on Route 873 when she failed to stop for a red light and struck a 2014 Hyundai Elantra driven by Kaleb G. Contes-Negron, 19, of Easton, who was turning onto Route 873 southbound from Schneck Road.

Police said both vehicles had disabling damages.
