Schuylkill County sentencings

Recent cases in Schuylkill County Court included:

• Nathaniel Joseph Kimmel, 27, of Girardville, was found guilty of first-degree murder in the stabbing of his ex-girlfriend April Mahmod 61 times at her South Catherine Street, Shenandoah home, in the early morning hours of Aug. 30, 2020.

Two counts of aggravated assault - one of extreme indifference and one with a deadly weapon - as well as two counts of simple assault and one count of recklessly endangering another person - were merged with the murder charge.

Sentences to run concurrent with the murder charge are: Four to eight years on a charge of burglary; 9 to 24 months on a charge of criminal trespass, and 1 to 24 months on a charge of possession of instrument of a crime.

Charges of murder in the second degree and murder in the third degree were dismissed by Schuylkill County Common Pleas Judge James Goodman.

Kimmel was given credit for 1,195 days served, and ordered to pay restitution of $210 to John Mahmod $10,585 to the Victim’s Compensation Assistance Program, $27,194 to the Bethlehem Crime Lab and $140 to the Berks County District Attorney’s Office.

• Robert William Miller III, 46, of Washington Township, was sentenced to 5½ to 11 years for rape by forcible compulsion or threat or forcible compulsion, the same term consecutive on a charge of rape by forcible compulsion or threat or forcible compulsion, 5 to 10 years for involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion or threat concurrent with the sentence imposed in count one, 5 to 10 years consecutive with the sentence imposed in count two on a charge of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion or threat, 3 to 6 years consecutive on a charge of aggravated indecent assault without consent, 1 to 2 years concurrent on a charge of corruption of minors-sexual acts, and 1 to 2 years concurrent on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child course of conduct.

The charges stem from inappropriate contact with a girl who was 14 or 15 at the time between January 2021 and June 2022.

Miller was also sentenced to 6 to 12 years on a charge of intimidation of witnesses with a gun after allegedly intimidating the girl with a gun.

He was also sentenced to 1 to 2 years concurrent each on charges of terroristic threats, corruption of minors, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault.

• Robert M. Wills, 42, of McAdoo, was sentenced to 9 to 23 months on a charge of criminal trespass by the Tamaqua Police Department for an incident Nov. 12, 2021.

The sentences for another count of criminal trespass, as well as two counts of theft and a charge of possession of instruments of crime were made concurrent.

• James Edward Kryzymalski, 39, of Tamaqua, was sentenced to 4½ to 10 years for sexual assault of a teenage girl on two occasions.

He faces the same sentence on a charge of sexual assault consecutive, 1 to 5 years consecutive on a charge of corruption of minors-sexual acts, 1 to 5 years concurrent on a charge of statutory sexual assault - 8 to 11 years older, and 5 years probation each on two charges of indecent exposure.

• George Gorski, 29, of McAdoo, was sentenced to a term of 12 to 48 months on a charge of dissemination of photo or film of child sex acts, plus the same term concurrent on an additional 34 similar charges, and a similar sentence for an additional 49 charges of child pornography. He was also sentenced to 5 years probation on a charge of criminal use of a communication facility.

• John Sparacino, 20, of Weatherly, will serve 3 years probation concurrently on three counts of unlawful killing or taking of big game.

Sparacino was also sentenced to 30 days to 23 months on a charge or corruption of minors.

• Jonathan George Manness, 39, of Tamaqua, was sentenced to 1 to 2 years on a count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and 6 to 12 months concurrent on a count of escape. He will serve a period of probation of 12 months on a charge of loitering and prowling at nighttime.

• Andrew Mascotte, 29, of Tamaqua, was sentenced to 3 to 24 months on a charge of criminal trespass.

• William Cirillo, 45, of Schuylkill Haven, was sentenced to 1 to 2 years on a charge of simple assault.

• Michael Minrod, 58, of New Ringgold, was sentenced to 6 to 23 months on a charge of terroristic threats.

• Kerry Long, 51, of Tamaqua, was sentenced to 3 to 23 months on a charge of retail theft.

• Thomas Aiello, 52, of Mount Carmel, was sentenced to 15 to 36 months on a charge of theft by deception.
