March 30, 1977 - Mike Kruslicky’s sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning scores Jan Kneas, who had walked, with the go-ahead and eventual winning run as Jim Thorpe gains a 5-4 victory over Lehighton in both team’s season opener. Kneas tosses a scoreless inning in the bottom of the eighth to preserve the decision. Vince Bocina collects a pair of hits, one a double, and scores a run for the Olympians. The winners also receive an RBI double from Mike Yeakel. For the Indians, Kris Kunkle and Kevin Moyer both finish with three hits.
