March 29, 2014 - A number of area basketball players participate in the annual VIA All-Star Classic at Northampton Area Community College. Northwestern’s Trista Cunningham collects seven points to help the Colonial League girls defeat Lehigh Valley West, 64-62. The Colonial boys fall by a 97-96 score, with Northern Lehigh’s Matt Egan and Josh Landsberger both collecting four points. The Mountain Valley Conference boys, coached by Lehighton’s Rich Oertner, receive seven first-half points from Pleasant Valley’s Marquis Brown and hold on for a 125-122 victory over LV East. The Bears’ Mackenzie Dorney scores eight points and PV’s Keri Dekmar and Lehighton’s Tiffany Thompson each add six, but the MVC girls drop an 85-83 decision.
