Pennsylvania State Police - Monroe incidents

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported the following incidents:

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 7:52 p.m. March 16 at the intersection of Paradise Valley Road and Keokee Chapel Lane in Paradise Township.

Police said it happened when Robert E. Check, 66, of Cresco, driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla, north on Keokee Chapel Lane began to make a left turn onto Paradise Valley Road without proper clearance, which resulted in the Corolla begin struck by a 2006 GMC Sierra driven by Jeffrey R. Boisselle, 59, of Pocono Pines, who was southbound in Paradise Valley Road at the time.

Police said both vehicles were towed from the scene.

They said Check was cited for “stop signs and yield signs” while Boisselle was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.

• Shamek S. Maynard, 29, of Allentown, was injured a one-vehicle crash at 3:59 p.m. March 20 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the West End Community Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg.

Police said he was driving a 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander south when it went across the median onto the northbound lane, came back into southbound lane, left the roadway and traveled up a 30-foot embankment. They said the car then went backward down the embankment. It sustained disabling front-end damages.

• Anna Dwyer, 32, of East Stroudsburg, was cited for harassment by physical contact after police responded to an inactive domestic dispute at 12:14 a.m. March 9 at 7815 Dougherty Drive, Middle Smithfield Township.

Police said the victim, a 40-year-old man from Effort, reported the woman pushed him during an argument.

• Two vehicles were damaged in a crash at 6:20 p.m. March 15 on Route 109 in Hamilton Township. No one was injured.

Police said it happened when a 2016 Ford Fusion, traveling north, attempted to go around a 2021 Subaru and struck it when the driver attempted to merge back into the right lane of travel. Both vehicles had minor damages and were able to be driven from the scene.

Police said the driver of the Fusion was cited.

• Five people were injured in a head-on crash at 6:13 p.m. Feb. 20 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township.

Police said Alyas Mohammad, 73, of Brooklyn, New York, the driver of one of the vehicles, and four passengers – Ghulam Muhammad, 40, Bushra Alyas, 36, and a boy and a girl, ages 9 and 7, all of Brooklyn – were transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg, to be treated for minor injuries.

Police said the crash happened when Alyas was driving a 2017 Land Rover northbound in southbound lane where it struck a 2021 Toyota Tacoma driven by Sean M. Henry, 52, of Scotrun. After the impact, the Tacoma left the roadway and rotated 90 degrees before coming to rest. The Land Rover rotated counter-clockwise 90 degrees and came to rest in the southbound lane. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Henry was uninjured.

Police said Alyas was cited for the crash.
