Aquashicola Fire Co. puts on annual fish fry

Aquashicola Fire Company will hold its 35th Annual Good Friday Fish Fry from 3-7 p.m. Friday.

Larry Arner, fire department member, noted that it will be a drive-through event.

“The community support over these 35 years has been outstanding,” Arner said. “It has been a long but enjoyable process creating this delicious meal for every one’s enjoyment, and we are hoping this will be another big success and a tasty meal for our supporters.”

Arner said tickets are $12 each, and can be purchased at the fire company from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. daily, and again from 6-8 p.m. Tickets can also be bought at George’s Plumbing & Heating, 155 Little Gap Road, from 8 a.m. through 4 p.m.

“Presale of tickets is invaluable in helping us be prepared,” he said. “We will sell tickets the day of the event if we haven’t met our quota.”

Arner said they may call either the fire company at 610-826-2066 or himself at 610-826-7515.

“If you don’t get an answer please leave a message and someone will get back to you,” he said. “For those attending, please have your tickets handy for our smiling servers and follow the posted signs to keep the process flowing smooth.”

Arner said the fish fry is one of the department’s biggest fundraisers and the proceeds will go toward purchasing important equipment needed by its volunteers to help keep them safe, and to perform their duties necessary at an emergency scene.

“We have recently purchased a new tanker truck to upgrade our fire fighting abilities, which we are quite proud of,” he said. “With the current cost of maintaining equipment, our facility, and remaining up to date on training this and all fundraisers are essential to our remaining in operation in a safe and efficient manner.”

Arner said the support of everyone is welcome.

“We here at the Aquashicola Fire Co. thank all who have supported this event in the past and look forward to the same this year,” he said. “Certainly we hope Mother Nature provides us with great weather but we are there to serve you our supporters no matter what the weather may bring.”
