The Tamaqua baseball team picked up a win on Friday, while the Northwestern girls lacrosse team opened the season with a victory on Thursday.

Tamaqua-Sch. Valley

A big game from Logan Morgans lifted Tamaqua to a 10-6 non-league win over Schuylkill Valley.

Morgans was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, a double and a run scored for the Blue Raiders (2-0), who pulled away with five runs over the final four innings. Wyatt Steigerwalt also had three hits and scored twice. Jake Yenser pitched four and a third innings of relief to earn the win, allowing two hits and striking out one.

Julian Kemmerer was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Schuylkill Valley. Wisten Ramos doubled among his two hits and had two RBIs.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Northampton-Northwestern

Olivia Costa led Northwestern to a season-opening 9-8 non-league win over Northampton.

Costa scored five goals for the Tigers (1-0). Olivia Fagan added two goals, and Ella Collins had two assists. Emma Yanders made four saves.
