Pocono Garden Club event to be held April 9

Pocono Garden Club Explores “Creating a National Park in Your Yard” on April 9

“Creating a National Park in Your Yard” will be presented when the Pocono Garden Club meets on Tuesday April 9 at 1 p.m. at the Monroe County Conservation District, 8050 Running Valley Road, Bartonsville.

Penn State Master Gardener Diane Giffels and club member Gail Colbeth will tell us how to create a national park-like garden at home.

The April floral design entry is titled “Spring Awakening” and will be a botanical design combining cut flowers and one or more potted plants.

The April horticulture entry will be a hellebore or any flowering bulb, such as a snow drop or narcissus, in bloom.

The houseplant entry will be any foliage plant.

A card-making activity also will take place.

The club is already preparing for its popular annual flower show and plant sale. Themed “The Beauty of America,” the show and sale will be held Saturday July 13 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Tannersville.
