Trinity Happenings

Sunday Worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 9:30 a.m. Palm fronds will be distributed per Palm Sunday tradition. Synodically Approved Lay Minister Kathy Long presides. Coffeehouse fellowship is in Luther Hall afterward.

Palm Sunday procession, weather permitting, for Sunday Church School for students age 3 through grade 6 and confirmands at 10:45 a.m. followed by seasonal activities indoors at Trinity.

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food.

The Trinity Thrift Store hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/trinitythriftstore.

Holy Week worship schedule: Maundy 7 p.m. with Holy Communion. Fifth grade students will receive their first Holy Communion. Good Friday Tenebrae at 7 p.m.

St. John’s

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Mahoning, 826 Mahoning Dr. W., Lehighton will hold worship service at 10:45 a.m. Sunday with Holy Communion. Sunday school is held from 9:45-10:40 a.m.

Spring Bazaar: March 22, 5-8 p.m. and March 23, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m.

Book club: 6:30 p.m. March 26. Discussion will be on “90 Minutes of Heaven” by Don Piper.

Maundy Thursday Service: March 28, 7 p.m.

Good Friday Service: March 29, 7 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church, Mantzville.

Easter Sunday Service: 6:30 a.m. at Dinkey Memorial Cemetery, 7 a.m. Breakfast at Dinkey Memorial Lutheran Church, Worship Service 9 a.m. at Dinkey Memorial Lutheran Church and 10:15 a.m. Easter Egg Hunt in Dinkey Memorial Cemetery.

10:45 a.m. Worship at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Mahoning.

A Spring Clothing Drive will be held in April and May. There will be a large box in the Narthex for items. Items should be specific for the Spring and Summer months. Donations will be given to the area homeless and in need.

St. John’s Cemetery Committee requests that all Christmas decorations be removed from the cemetery by March 22. Please be sure to put your cemetery decorations in the garbage container marked specifically for “Cemetery Decorations.”

Dinkey Memorial Church has a food cupboard available to those in need of supplemental food resources. It is available to members of Dinkey Memorial and St. John’s, and to residents of East Penn Township. The distribution is the third Thursday of every month from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Dinkey’s Social Room, located below the sanctuary. If you or anyone you know would benefit from receiving food from the Community Cupboard, please speak with Pastor Tony.

Ben Salem UCC

Ben Salem UCC, 1965 Church Hill Road, Lehighton will hold an 8 a.m. worship service with a Praise Band; 10:15 a.m. traditional service; and Sunday school classes at 9 a.m. Communion service will be the first Sunday of each month.

• Wednesday at 6 p.m., Senior Choir Practice

• Thursday at 6:45 p.m., Handbell Choir Practice

• King’s Kids Choir will practice the first and second Sunday of the month following the 10:15 worship service. Any child interested in joining, please contact the church for further contact information.

• King’s Kids Choir will sing the third Sunday of the month.

• Healing Service on April 14 at noon.

• Blessing of the Bikes on May 5 following the 10:15 worship service

• Ben Salem Rummage Sale will be held in the Social Hall at 1749 Church Hill Road, Lehighton on May 10 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. and May 11 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
