State police at Hazleton - crashes

State police at the Hazleton barracks reported the following:

• Police said Michael R. Lestishock, 68, of Beaver Meadows, and a passenger in his car, Marie E. Lestishock, 67, also of Beaver Meadows, were involved in a two-vehicle crash at 8:42 p.m. March 6 at the intersection of Broad and Church streets in Beaver Meadows.

Police said they were transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley EMS group to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton, after the crash.

It happened when a 2018 Toyota Camry operated by Nicholas A. Roche, 30, of Benton, performed an illegal U-turn, cutting off a 2024 Honda HRV driven by Michael Lestishock, and the Honda struck the Camry. Police said both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Roche was cited for “limitations on turning around,” police said.

• Police responded at 3 p.m. March 4 to the area of Route 93 and Laurel Mall Drive, Hazle Township, for a reported vehicle crash and charged a 30-year-old White Haven man with driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

A 2011 Chrysler and a 2016 Honda Accord were involved. A 57-year-old woman from Sugarloaf was also involved.
