March 12, 1967 - St. Jerome’s of Tamaqua outscores St. Francis of Minersville in every quarter to pull away for a 68-47 victory to send the Jerries into the Allentown Diocese Northern Division championship game. Frank Yusella and Matt Welsh lead the way for the winners, as both turn in outstanding performances. Yusella ends with a game-high 21 points, hands out eight assists, and collects eight steals. Welsh registers a double-double, scoring 20 points and pulling down 22 rebounds. St. Jerome’s, coached by Fred Nardini and Ed Paperman, also receive 17 points from Tom Yelito.
