Woman charged with stealing $1,257 in merchandise

A Kunkletown woman has been charged with stealing from the ShopRite in Brodheadsville, according to police.

In the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Robert Russell of the Pennsylvania State Police - Fern Ridge barracks in the case against Nicole Shoemaker:

At 1:11 p.m. Feb. 4, Russell responded to a retail theft in the 100 block of Kinsley Drive, Chestnuthill Township.

While on scene, Russell spoke with a member of ShopRite loss prevention who related that he was reviewing video surveillance, and observed a retail theft occur at around 7 p.m. Feb. 3.

Russell and the ShopRite loss prevention member reviewed the video surveillance which captured a woman enter ShopRite, take possession and fill her grocery cart with merchandise valued at $1,257 and leave the store.

The woman was identified through a previous incident held within PSP Fern Ridge as Shoemaker, 35. A query yielded a photograph of Shoemaker, which is identical to the woman in the video surveillance.

Shoemaker is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing May 23 before District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.
