State police at Schuylkill Haven - crashes

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks released details of three recent crashes:

• Melvin L. Britt, 43, of Arverne, New York, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 2:10 p.m. Feb. 28 on Route 61 in West Brunswick Township.

Police said he was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville, by personnel from the Auburn Fire Company ambulance.

They said the crash occurred when he was driving a 2020 Nissan Altima northbound when a tree fell from the embankment on top of the car, which had to be towed from the scene.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 2 p.m. Feb. 29 on Route 61 in West Brunswick Township.

Police said it happened when Mauro Gonzalez-Rubi, 64, of Reading, driving a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, was northbound when it went through a steady red light at the intersection of Municipal Road and struck a 2010 Chevrolet Impala driven by Linford Mutter, 63, of Orwigsburg. Police said both vehicles sustained disabling damages

Gonzalez-Rubi was cited for traffic control signals, driving without a license and careless driving, police said.

• Police responded to a hit-and-run crash at 5:06 p.m. Feb. 29 on Route 61 in North Manheim Township.

They said a vehicle, believed to be an Acura TSX, traveling south, unexpectedly stopped in the lane of travel, made an illegal U-turn and rear-ended by a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Jayce M. Livinghouse, 20, of Tower City, before leaving the scene.

Livinghouse was uninjured.
