Man charged after repeated 911 calls

A Kunkletown man has been charged with repeatedly calling 911 in an attempt to scare his girlfriend as a manipulation tactic.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by state Trooper Shannon Grundmann of the Lehighton barracks in the case against Scott Nagle:

At 8:18 p.m. Feb. 8, Grundmann was dispatched to the 400 block of Mountain View Drive, Polk Township, for a 911 hang up. A man was heard yelling in the background and then immediately hung up.

Grundmann arrived on scene and was met with Nagle, 64, who related he dialed 911 because he was arguing with his girlfriend. At this time, both parties were separated.

Trooper Anthony Kingsley interviewed Nagle while Grundmann interviewed Nagle’s girlfriend.

Nagle’s girlfriend related that she and Nagle engaged in an argument, and she removed herself from the situation by going into the bedroom and closing the door, but Nagle forcefully pushed the door open and shoved her to the ground.

Grundmann then spoke to Nagle, who said that he and his girlfriend were arguing, and she walked away from him. Nagle further related that he was not done with the conversation, and he forced himself into the bedroom where she was.

Nagle said that he called 911 on Feb. 6 to scare his girlfriend and get her to speak to him. Nagle said that he was not experiencing an emergency and he was not in need of police assistance.

Nagle said that he has called 911 in the past to scare his girlfriend, and called with no intention of receiving police, fire, or EMS assistance.

A query of Pennsylvania State Police activity history at the home revealed that the Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched when Nagle called 911 on Feb. 21, 2022, April 29, 2023, June 10, 2023, Sept. 27, 2023, Dec. 16, 2023, and Feb. 6.

Each of these incidents revealed that police, fire and EMS were not needed and there was no emergency.

Nagle related that at each of these incidents, he called 911 as a manipulation tactic against his girlfriend.

Nagle faces charges on six counts of communications with 911, along with one count of harassment.

Nagle is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing April 11 before District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.
