State police report on Monroe County crashes

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported on the following crashes:

• Geremy Genelus, 31, of New Haven, Connecticut, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle mishap at 3:03 a.m. Feb. 13 on Route 33 in Ross Township. Police said he was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

Police said he was driving a 2023 Freightliner Cascadia northbound on the snow-covered roadway and was descending a right-hand turn on a hill. The vehicle crossed the travel lanes, striking the concrete barriers diving the north and south lanes, before crossing the travel lanes again and hitting the right shoulder of the road in an area where there are no guide rails. The vehicle sustained heavy disabling damages, police said.

• Shrekhrozkhon Buzrukov, 44, of Philadelphia, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 8:07 a.m. Feb. 18 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia southbound when it left the roadway as a result of black ice. It traveled onto the left shoulder, striking a concrete traffic barriers, and then crossed both travel lanes and impacted a guide rail.

Police said the vehicle leaked about 100 gallons of diesel fuel onto the roadway. It sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

• Naeema S. Beckles, 32, of Jamaica, New York, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 11:17 a.m. Jan. 16 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township.

Police said she was driving a 2015 Mercedes-Benz southbound when she lost control of the vehicle. It proceeded to strike a guide rail on then west shoulder. The car sustained disabling damages.

Police said Beckles told them a secondary vehicle, possibly a white SUV, cut her off as she was in the right lane, which caused her to crash the Mercedes.

• Susan Racanelli, 67, of Pocono Summit, was involved in a one-vehicle crash at 12:20 p.m. Feb. 21 on Interstate 80 in Pocono Township.

Police said she was transported by personnel from the St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services to a St. Luke’s hospital for an evaluation.

Police said she was a passenger in a 2020 Toyota Corolla driven by Joseph Racanelli, 66, also of Pocono Summit. They said the vehicle was westbound when it veered off the left shoulder of the road into the median and struck a tree, causing disabling damages.
