State police at Frackville

State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following:

• The driver of a 2002 Jeep Cherokee that crashed at 1:34 a.m. Feb. 23 on Route 924 in Union Township left the scene.

Police said the vehicle was southbound and was traveling too fast for conditions when the driver lost control of it. The Jeep left the road and crashed into a guide rail off the right shoulder of the road before overturning. It sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

Police said the driver contacted police about five hours after the crash and was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

• Dashon High, 18, of Girardville, was cited for retail theft (shoplifting) after police were called to Altamont Boulevard, West Mahanoy Township, at 8:30 p.m. Feb. 2.

• Starkyn Casalinova Perez, 27, of the Bronx, New York, was charged with simple assault and harassment after police were summoned to a domestic violence incident involving a 30-year-old woman at 9:31 a.m. Feb. 3.

It happened at a property on South Spencer Street in West Mahanoy Township.

• Police were called to a hit-and-run incident at 7:19 a.m. Feb. 18 on South Cleveland Street in McAdoo.

Police said a Jeep Cherokee was traveling north when it drifted from its lane of travel and struck a 2012 Toyota Camry that was legally parked. After the impact, the Jeep fled the scene. Police said it is believed to be a 2008-2012 vehicle that has damage to its passenger side rear fender, bumper and taillight.

• The Dollar General Store, 700 Barnesville Drive, Ryan Township, was cited for disorderly conduct after police were called there at 1:51 a.m. Feb. 20.

Police said the incident involved an alarm activation that was a false alarm. They said it was the fourth false alarm in a 12-month period.

• Victor M. Rosario, 40, of Hazleton, was cited after a crash at 12:22 a.m. Feb. 17 on the Interstate 81 connector in Kline Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2012 Honda CRV northbound when it struck a guide rail on the left side of the road and came to rest partially in the travel lane after rotating 360 degrees.

• Alvaro H. Zavala, 56, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 1:54 a.m. Feb. 7 on Interstate 81 in Ryan Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the Advanced Medical Transport System to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township.

Police said he was driving a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia northbound when it left the left side of the road and struck a ditch. It continued northbound in the grass median where a secondary impact occurred when Zavala tried to steer back into the travel lanes. They said the rig overturned and struck a guide rail before coming to rest in the median facing east.
