February Art Show

The Wide Blue Sky, by Chester Rideout, will be the Monroe County Conservation District’s February art show in the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center from Feb. 6 through 29. It is a collection of photographs from his many adventures although the artist is deceased since June12, 2023 when he died from ALS, which he was diagnosed with in early 2023.

For more information, call the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center at 570-629-3061 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. some Saturdays. Or on other programs being offered, visit www.mcconservation.org.

Ash Wednesday

Various churches have begun announcing Ash Wednesday services.

St. John’s Lutheran, Effort, will hold its service at 7 p.m., Feb. 14.

Lenten study set

Effort UMC will begin its Lenten study on Ash Wednesday, which is Feb. 14.

Jeff Albert will lead participants on a Lenten Journey that will be biblically grounded, challenging and fun. The study will begin with dinner from 5:30 to 6 p.m. in Wesley Hall with the study to follow from 6 to 6:50 p.m. Attendees will make it out in time for the Lenten Service at 7 p.m. There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex.

Early sign up is requested, so the church will know how many books to order and how much soup and salad to prepare.

Spring outing

A trip to the March 4 Philadelphia Flower Show has been announced by Aralee Thieling, Chestnuthill Township’s program coordinator.

The bus is slated to leave at 8 a.m. and return at 7 p.m.
