Luzerne woman sentenced in 7 cases

Carbon County Court Judge Joseph J. Matika recently sentenced one woman in seven cases.

Amber Lynn Sebia,

35, of Hazleton, Luzerne County, was charged by Weatherly Police Officer Edward E. Kubert with retail theft on March 11. Judge Matika fined her $150.

In a second case, Sebia was charged by Weatherly Police Officer Zachary J. Wargula with defiant trespass on July 9, 2021.

Judge Matika placed her on one year of probation, ordered her to pay a $100 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee, obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation, and render 50 hours of community service. She also was ordered to stay away from the victim’s property.

In a third case, Sebia was charged by Weatherly Police Officer Joshua R. Silfee with institutional vandalism of an educational facility and two counts of defiant trespass on July 2, 2021.

She admitted to a trespass charge and to the vandalism.

Matika levied the same punishment as the previous case, to be served concurrently, on the trespass charge.

On the vandalism charge, he ordered her to pay $279 to the Weatherly Police Department.

In a fourth case, Sebia was charged by Officer Kubert with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on July 1, 2021.

Matika levied the same sentence as in the previous case, to be served concurrently.

In a fifth case, Sebia was charged by Hazleton State Trooper Timothy J. Vicario with criminal trespass- breaking into a structure, burglary, two counts of harassment, and defiant trespass on Aug. 21, 2021.

She admitted to the defiant trespass and motor vehicle charges.

Judge Matika on the trespass charge ordered her to pay $444 in restitution to the victim, serve a separate year on probation, and render 50 hours of community service.

On the motor vehicle charge, he ordered her to pay $134 in restitution to the victim, serve a year on probation, and render 50 hours of community service.

In a sixth case, Sebia was charged by Officer Kubert with aggravated cruelty to animals, resulting in severe bodily injury or death, cruelty to animals, two counts of neglect of animals - food and water, and a charge of neglect of animals - shelter/protection on Aug. 10, 2021.

In that case, she admitted to the cruelty charge, and Judge Matika sentenced her to another year on probation and 50 hours of community service.

In a seventh case, Sebia was charged by Weatherly Police Officer Ashley N. Harris with burglary, receiving stolen property, theft, and defiant trespass on May 31, 2023.

She admitted to the theft and trespass charges.

On the theft charge, Judge Matika sentenced her to yet another year on probation and an additional 50 hours of community service.

On the trespass charge, he sentenced her to another year on probation, and 50 hours of community service.

Dilon Amar, 29, of Lehighton, was charged by Palmerton Police Officer Kevin K. Buck with two counts each of stalking and harassment on Aug. 25, 2022.

He admitted to the harassment charges, and Judge Matika sentenced him to a $100 LiveScan fee and a $150 fine.

The remaining charges were dropped.
