Golden Agers

The Panther Valley Golden Agers met on Dec. 18 with 14 members in attendance. The group president opened the meeting with the reading “A Tough of Christmas.” A big thank you to McDonald’s, Nesquehoning for donations toward the Christmas party.

Everyone was wished a Merry Christmas and a Happy, healthy, New Year.

St. John the Baptist and St. Nicholas

Since there has been a change in clergy, the holiday schedule has been also been changed for St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Nesquehoning; and St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Lansford.

All are welcome to come and worship and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our Saviour with us. Services will be celebrated by Protopresbyter Fr Joseph Fester.

• Jan. 6, Christmas Eve: 8 p.m. Great Compline Service at St. John Orthodox Church in Nesquehoning

• Jan 7, Christmas Day: 9 a.m. Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Lansford; and 10:45 a.m. Pro-Liturgy at St. John Orthodox Church

• Jan 19: Divine Liturgy for Theophany with Blessing of the water at St. John Orthodox Church.

Senior Center

The Panther Valley Senior Center announced the menu for Dec. 25-29.

Monday: Center closed

Tuesday: Italian Sausage, Pasta, Broccoli and Cauliflower, Cookie or Chef Salad with Ham

Wednesday: BBQ Chicken, Sweet Potatoes, Brussels sprouts, Cornbread, Pudding or Harvest Chicken Salad

Thursday: Lentil Soup, Salmon Croquette, Brown Rice, Green Beans, Peaches or Beef and Cheese Sandwich

Friday: Pork and Sauerkraut, Potatoes, Peas, Apple Slices or Chicken Salad Sandwich

The senior center also announced the following events.

The center is closed Dec. 25; Bingo Dec. 26 at 10:45 a.m.; Po-Keeno on Dec. 27 at 11 a.m.; Games on Dec. 28 at 10 a.m.; Early New Year’s Eve Party on Dec. 29 at 10:30 a.m.
