LVHN welcomes new general surgeons to Carbon site

Surgical care access for Carbon County residents expanded with the recent addition of two new board-certified general surgeons at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Carbon.

Tanmay Lal, MD, and Karolin Ginting, MD, are now accepting patients at their practice, LVPG General Surgery–Carbon where they join Joshua Nochumson, MD. The practice is located at the Health Center at Carbon, 2226 Blakeslee Blvd. Drive E, Suite 200 in Lehighton.

“We are so pleased to have Dr. Ginting and Dr. Lal bring their surgical expertise here to Carbon County,” says Christine Biege, RN, President of LVH–Carbon. “With these two surgeons joining Dr. Nochumson, the need for surgical patients to leave our community has been greatly reduced.”

All three surgeons are part of the Lehigh Valley Institute for Surgical Excellence.

Dr. Lal comes to LVH–Carbon from Martins Ferry, Ohio, where he practiced for many years. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Bombay/Topiwala National Medical College, Mumbai, India, and completed general surgery residencies at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, and Thomas Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia. Dr. Lal also completed fellowships for transplant surgery at University of Maryland, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Lahey Clinic Medical Center, Burlington, Massachusetts.

Dr. Lal says his approach to medicine is very personal. “My philosophy is to treat every patient like a member of my own family.”

Dr. Ginting says her focus is always on the patient.

“My philosophy of care is centered around my patient’s health and well-being. My goal is to address each patient’s unique needs and concerns with compassion.”

Dr. Ginting earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Miami University and her Doctor of Medicine from Wright State University School of Medicine, Dayton, Ohio. She completed a general surgery residency at The Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati.

Both Dr. Lal and Dr. Ginting also have a practice in neighboring Schuylkill County.

Lehigh Valley Hospital–Carbon, located in Lehighton, remains Carbon County’s newest hospital. It opened in June 2022 and recently completed a phase two expansion project that included a new seven-bed intensive care unit, four additional medical-surgical beds, outpatient laboratory services, Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, DEXA scan for osteoporosis screening, pulmonary function testing and relocated its Breast Health Services to the hospital campus.
