Schuylkill approves 911 maintenance, GIS

Schuylkill County commissioners on Wednesday approved an agreement between the county 911 Communications Center and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency for $89,154.75 in state funding to be used for ESInet maintenance, NG911 PSAP conformance, and GIS readiness projects.

The agreement is retroactive to July 1 and ends Dec. 31.

ESInet is an IP network that is used for emergency services communications, and which can be shared by all public safety agencies.

NG911 Public Safety Answering Point is another technology crucial to state-of-the-art emergency communications systems.

In other actions Wednesday, commissioners approved a lease agreement with the Pottsville parking authority for 20 parking spaces at the Capitol Parking Garage for Adult Probation employees at a rate of $41 per space per month.

The monthly total is $820; the annual total is $9,840.

The agreement runs from Jan. 1, 2024 through Dec. 31, 2024.

Board appointments

• Commissioners reappointed Gary Feathers, Tuscarora, and Mary Luscavage, Shenandoah, to serve on the county Transportation Authority Board of Directors for five years, from Jan. 1, 2024 through Dec. 31, 2028.

• They also reappointed Mark Scarbinsky to a one-year term on the Highridge Improvement District Authority beginning Jan. 1, 2024; and reappointed David Donlin, Minersville, and Martin Brophy, Shenandoah to the Schuylkill County Industrial development Authority Board of Directors for five-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2024 through Dec. 31, 2028.

• Commissioners reappointed John Boyer and Brock Stein, both of Orwigsburg, to five-year terms on the Schuylkill County Municipal Authority. The terms run from Jan. 1, 2024 through Dec, 31, 2028.
