Local Roundup: Results from Dec. 8

Lehighton, Panther Valley and Pleasant Valley all picked up wins Friday in girls basketball action.

The Indians defeated Northern Lehigh, the Panthers downed Jim Thorpe, while the Bears topped Pocono Mountain East.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

No. Lehigh-Lehighton

Emma Repsher had a big scoring night to lead Lehighton to a 48-37 non-league victory over Northern Lehigh.

Repsher finished with a game-high 23 points, including eight in the first quarter as the Indians jumped out to a 16-7 lead.

The winners also received 12 points from Ryleigh Trotman.

The Bulldogs were paced by Aubrey Pollard and Teegan Simms, who both tallied 13 points.

Lehighton upped its record to 2-2, while Nolehi dropped to 1-3.

Panther Vy.-Jim Thorpe

Panther Valley built a big halftime lead and cruised to a 64-40 Schuylkill League victory over Jim Thorpe.

Maddison Maynard scored 15 of her game-high 21 points in the opening half as the Panthers raced to a 45-18 advantage. PV’s Kaidence Krapf also tallied 14 points, including three three-pointers, over the first two quarters.

The winners, who improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the league, received 10 points from Morgan Orsulak.

For the Olympians, now 0-3 and 0-1, Jaylah Yeakel and Julianna Bowen both finished with nine points.

Pleasant Vy.-PM East

Pleasant Valley picked up its second straight win with a 36-16 victory over Pocono Mountain East in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference play.

Aryn Stivala led the Bears with 19 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Ryan Rosenberg accounted for Pleasant Valley’s other two three-pointers and finished with eight points.

The win lifted PV to 2-3, while the Cardinals fell to 0-4.

Tamaqua lost its first game of the season, suffering a 49-29 Schuylkill League setback at the hands of North Schuylkill.

Olivia Burke led North Schuylkill (1-0) with 20 points.

Kendle Miller had a team-high 12 points for the Raiders (3-1). Lauren Ligenza recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Northwestern-Salisbury

Salisbury handed Northwestern its first loss of the season, edging the Tigers, 35-28 in Colonial League play.

The Tigers (2-1) got pins from Braydon Uricchio, Noah Griffith, and Trent Coll. Luke Fugazzotto added a major decision, while Ali Gabri El and Noah Schlofer picked up decisions.
