Monroe County crashes

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported on the following:

• Marlon F. Ndiaye, 18, of Stroudsburg, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 9:27 a.m. Nov. 20 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2012 Ford Focus northbound and was turning onto Beaver Valley Road when he was distracted by the GPS on his mobile phone. Police said the car struck a guide rail on the shoulder of the road and came to rest in the intersection.

The car had disabling damages, police said.

• Lily M. Carey, 18, of Scott Township, was not injured in a crash at 2:24 p.m. Nov. 17 on Interstate 80 in Hamilton Township.

Police said she was driving a 2012 Jeep Cherokee westbound when an unknown vehicle traveling in the right lane next to her began to merge into the left lane, forcing the Cherokee to strike a guide rail. The unknown vehicle continued merging in to the left lane and struck the Cherokee before the driver fled the scene.

• Stacey L. Allford, 45, of Palmerton, was cited for after a two-vehicle crash at 2:24 p.m. Nov. 7 on Route 115 in Hamilton Township.

Police said she was driving a 2017 Honda Civic southbound and was attempting to negotiate a left turn onto Route 33 southbound when she failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming 2003 Freightliner driven by Randy A. Gold, 60, of Nazareth. Police said the Honda struck the rig after which time both vehicles came to controlled stops.

Police said Allford sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported by personnel from the West End Community Ambulance to the St. Luke’s Hospital.

• Darby Q. Knox, 22, of Landing, New Jersey, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 9:36 p.m. Oct. 30 on Interstate 80 in Pocono Township.

Police said she was transported by personnel from the St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services unit to the St. Luke’s Hospital.

Police said she was driving a 2111 Ford Fiesta that left the roadway, traveled onto the right shoulder and landed in a wooded area, striking a tree.

Police said Knox was located outside the vehicle when they arrived. Further investigation revealed her to be under the influence of a controlled substance, for which she will be charged.

The car was towed from the scene.

• Heidi A. Stratis, 26, of Wayne, New Jersey, was cited by police after a one-vehicle crash at 8:09 p.m. Nov. 26 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township.

Police said she was transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley EMS unit to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg.

Police said she was driving a 2021 Honda Civic and was attempting to utilize the Saylorsburg exit when she approached it at a speed that exceeded roadway conditions. They said the car drove across the grass median before striking a concrete traffic barrier.

The vehicle needed to be towed from the scene, police said.

• A crash happened at 7:54 a.m. Oct. 12 on exit ramp 3 of Interstate 380 in Tobyhanna Township. Police said a 2005 Dodge Durango driven by Philip V. Pecora Jr., 44, of White Haven, traveling south on the ramp, attempted to merge onto the interstate by driving slightly to the right where it struck a 2010 International Harvester driven by Bruce E. Whiteford, 48, of Long Pond.

Police said both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene. The drivers, and three passengers with Whiteford were not injured. Passengers were Dennis R. Carney, 55, of Lake Ariel, Thomas Boyko, 55, of Lansford, and Stanley J. John, 32, of Long Pond.
