Tamaqua man charged after threatening man’s life over parking space

Tamaqua police filed charges against a borough man who threatened to kill another man over a parking space.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Bowe Street at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 23 regarding a parking incident that had escalated.

The victim told police that Richard Vaquero, 20, parked in his driveway, and when the victim asked him to move, Vaquero became agitated and made threats. Police said a portion of the incident was recorded by an onlooker.

From the video, police could hear Vaquero making threats and saying, “I have straps, too. I got guns, too. I have a license to carry.” Vaquero also threatened to punch the victim and walked toward him in a threatening manner.

Officers said the victim has told Vaquero several times not to park on his property.

He was charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, defiant trespass, disorderly conduct and harassment.
