Tamaqua Senior Citizens

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Nov. 16 with 22 members in attendance. The president opened the meeting with the reading of “My Wonderful Lord.” A moment of silence was observed for Helen Trimmel. Carol Sedlock was added to the sick list.

Jean Machamer was surprised when her daughter, Debbie Brennan, and sister-in-law, Mary Brennan, came to visit for her 90th birthday, which she observed on Nov. 14. Fall decorations were won by Nancy Godanis. Everyone was wished a Happy Thanksgiving.

The group meets at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Garden Club

The Lewistown Valley Garden Club will hold its November meeting at 1 p.m. on Nov. 28, at Zion Church Memorial Hall in Lewistown Valley. The program will be a craft made by members under the direction of Sue Hower, also a member.

Arrangement to be judged is: Golden Days using yellow corn husks, dried corn as an accessory; Specimen: any blooming shrub and/or branch with berries.

The October meeting was the annual dinner meeting, which was enjoyed by all. New members are always welcome.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim will offer the message at the 10:30 a.m. worship service at Calvary Evangelical Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m., and evening service is at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 29. Prayer group meets at 6:30 p.m.

Upcoming activities: Dec. 3 decorating of the Christmas tree during the 10:30 a.m. service; Dec. 10, Calvary Christmas dinner and party immediately following morning worship.
