Summit Hill mans joins Space Force

Tyler Davis of Summit Hill headed to Space Force on Monday, Nov. 6.

A 2018 Panther Valley High School graduate, Davis was a first lieutenant Junior ROTC and earned a medical associates of science degree from Lehigh Carbon Community College in 2021.

Last year he changed his major to Cyber Forensics and was recommended for Space Force.

Davis, 23, is the son of Andrea (Genits) Davis, an Air Force Veteran Intelligence Analyst originally from Lansford.

His father Shane Davis is also an Air Force veteran from Florida who was a weapons loader. Tyler has a sister, Taylor Davis, who is also processing for Air Force and scheduled to leave in the spring of 2024.

Davis will be the second Carbon County resident to join Space Force.

After Christmas he will go to Vandenburg AFB California for technical training for Space Systems Operations.

He will learn to detect sea-launched ballistic missiles and track satellites to assist rocket launches and space flight operations. He will manage and operate satellite radar and other space systems in support of national security.

Davis belongs to the Lansford Legion “sons” and was married in September to Hailey Henninger, also of Summit Hill. She is the daughter of Ranee Kusko and Robert Henninger. She will join Davis this spring after he moves to his first duty station.

Davis is also the grandson of Joan Genits who lives in the United Kingdom and Joseph Genits Jr of Lansford, also an Air Force veteran. His great-grandfather Joseph Genits Sr. was a World War II Purple Heart recipient.

“I am very proud of him for serving his country,” said his mother, Andrea Davis.
