State Police - Fern Ridge

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks have reported on the following:

• Police were called to an incident in Chestnuthill Township when school officials reported a Safe2Say message was received concerning threats.

It happened between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Oct. 2.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 6:58 a.m. Oct. 13 on Route 715 in Jackson Township.

Police said Joseph A. Marin, 32, of East Stroudsburg, was driving southbound when his vehicle traveled a cross the double yellow lines and struck the left side of a vehicle operated by George Rodriguez, 60, of Long Pond.

Marin’s vehicle had to be towed from the scene, police said.

• Fnu Shwethasrinivas, 28, of Exton, was cited for “obedience to traffic control devices” after a three-vehicle crash at 2:33 p.m. Oct. 22 at the intersection of routes 209 and 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said she was driving a 2020 Hyundai Elantra northbound on Rt. 209 when she attempted to make a left turn onto Rt. 115. The Elantra struck a 2013 Cadillac operated by Prima L. Jacobusky, 59, of Saylorsburg, who was southbound at the time. Police said the Elantra spun around and struck a 2017 Mazda 3 driven by Maxwell K. Donkor, 65, of Middletown, New York.

Police said Jacobusky sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported by personnel from the West End Community Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg.

• Louisa S. Leach, 29, of Edwardsville, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 4:21 p.m. Nov. 4 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.

She was driving a 2011 Kia Forte westbound when she failed to negotiate a right curve on the exit ramp. The car struck a guardrail and was towed from the scene.

Police said she was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

• West End Rentals, Brodheadsville, sustained a $50,000 loss in a theft case.

Police were called there at 11:47 a.m. Oct. 31 when the victim told them an unknown actor removed the money from the business account at about 4 a.m. Oct. 26.

• Gerard Nieroda, 30, of Albrightsville, was arrested for harassment by physical contact after police were called to a property on Wintergreen Trail, Penn Forest Township, at 8:24 p.m. Nov. 4.

Police said they were told someone heard a female calling for help and upon arrival, learned Nieroda grabbed a 28-year-old Albrightsville woman by the neck and threw her to the ground.

• Erin M. Romberger, 37, of Stroudsburg, was uninjured in a two-vehicle crash at 6:05 p.m. Nov. 1 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said she was driving a 2022 Ford Escape that was stationary in traffic when an unknown vehicle attempted to pass her car on the right shoulder and struck it.

• Police cited a 61-year-old Jim Thorpe man for “false alarm devices” after they were called to a property for a false alarm at 4:50 a.m. Nov. 4 on Yellow Run Road, Penn Forest Township.

Police said it was the fifth false alarm there in a 12-month period.

• Police were dispatched to a residence on Grand Mesa Drive, Chestnuthill Township, Effort, for an unresponsive male at 8:57 p.m. Oct. 12.

They said Ronald Oliphant, 69, of Toms River, New Jersey, was found deceased in his bedroom of his son’s residence.

They said there is nothing suspicious in the case and no signs of foul play were found.
