Local volunteers are working hard to make sure that all veterans laid to rest at Sky View Memorial Park in the village of Hometown are honored on National Wreaths Across America Day.

The ceremony, held simultaneously across the country at more than 3,800 participating locations, will be on Dec. 16.

The goal for Sky View Memorial Park is to raise enough funds to place 3,600 sponsored veterans’ wreaths on the headstones of all the local heroes laid to rest there, to ensure that the individuals who served to protect the freedoms of our country never be forgotten and to bring the community together in patriotic commemoration.

Deadline for orders by check is Nov. 19. Online orders have been extended to Nov. 28.

To sponsor a wreath by check or money order, make it payable to “Wreaths Across America” and send to 286 Pump House Rd., Weatherly, PA 18255.

This is the fourth year that the cemetery is participating in the national program.

Wreaths Across America is nonprofit organization that was founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
