Kids Closet Sale not returning in spring

The Kids Closet Sale will not be returning in the spring for its biannual shopping event.

After five years helping families save money on children’s necessities, the Times News Media Group will be discontinuing The Kids Closet Sale consignment event.

“We were happy to provide this service to the community for as long as we did,” said Jennifer Benninger, the advertising director at Times News Media Group and coordinator for The Kids Closet Sale. “It wasn’t an easy decision to stop hosting the event.”

The Kids Closet Sale is a semiannual children’s consignment event. The sale provides the local community an opportunity to save money on new or gently-used, name-brand children’s items while providing the chance to clean out, have fun and make extra cash.

The sale started roughly 14 years ago by Danielle Andreas before the Times News Media Group purchased it in 2019.

In 2022, The Kids Closet Sale moved to the Slatington Expo Center at the Markets at Slatington.

Since the pandemic, The Kids Closet Sale has experienced a steady decline in participation and interest. While the September sale proved to be successful, Benninger said that it was a tougher experience than previous sales.

“A sale this big requires a lot of planning and resources to host. We rely on consignors to provide us with inventory and a workforce to make each event a success. Unfortunately, The Kids Closet sale suffered a big hit after COVID-19 that we weren’t able to recover from,” Benninger said.

The Times News Media Group is willing to pass on the torch of The Kids Closet Sale. If you are interested in continuing the sale, contact Benninger at 800-275-0714, email at kcs@thekidsclosetsale.com, or contact the Kids Closet Sale through Facebook messenger.
