Area crashes

State police at Fern Ridge have reported on the following incidents:

• Marielys Ramirez, 20, of Hazleton, was cited for following too closely following a three-vehicle crash at 12:48 p.m. Oct. 19 at the intersection of State and Centre streets in East Side Borough.

Police said she was driving a 2000 Honda that “rear-ended” a 2018 Ford Transit operated by Shawn T. Prohaska, 56, of Mountain Top, pushing it into a 2006 Toyota 4-Runner driven by Elena Zota, 58, of White Haven.

No one was injured in the incident. Police were assisted at the scene by personnel from the White Haven EMS unit and a local towing company.

• Camille I. Sandoval, 26, of Stroudsburg, suffered minor injuries in a crash at 12:18 a.m. Oct. 25 on Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township.

Police said she was transported by personnel from the Pocono Mountain Regional Emergency Medical Services to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Bartonsville.

Police said she was driving a 2023 Toyota RAV4 eastbound that struck a deer that had entered its path. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

• Donald S. Banner, 62, and Lauren S. Banner, 58, of Bloomfield, New Jersey, escaped injuries in a car vs. deer incident at 9:56 p.m. Oct. 26 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.

Police said Donald Banner was operating the 2021 Honda westbound when the deer entered the roadway and was struck. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

• Sean I. Qunitero, 59, of Saylorsburg, was uninjured when a 2016 Jaguar he was driving struck a deer at 11:05 p.m. Oct. 28 on Route 715 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was southbound when the deer entered the roadway from the east berm and was struck. The Jaguar sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene, police said.

• Janine L. Hyde-Broderick, 55, of Kunkletown, was uninjured when a 2014 Subaru Forester she was driving struck a deer on the on-ramp for Route 33 northbound in Hamilton Township at 7:02 a.m. Oct. 25.

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks said she was traveling on the ramp when the deer jumped over the median separating the Lehighton off-ramp and the Route 33 on-ramp. The Forester sustained disabling damages, police said.

• Sevion E. Leak, 21, of Pittston, was uninjured when a 2017 Volkswagen Passat he was driving struck a deer at 1:57 a.m. Oct. 25 in Kidder Township on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

The deer was standing in the right lane of travel while Leak was southbound. The car had disabling damages.
