State Police Stroudsburg - crashes

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported on recent crashes:

• Edward W. Jones, 75, of Stroudsburg, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 3:59 p.m. Oct. 22 on the North Easton Belmont Pike, Hamilton Township.

Police said he was driving a 2018 Ford Fiesta northbound when he lost control of the car due to driving too fast for conditions. It went off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

The car sustained disabling damages and needed to be towed from the scene.

• A 2020 GMC Yukon struck a deer at 7:36 p.m. Oct. 22 on Rimrock Road in Hamilton Township.

Police did not identify the driver. They said the vehicle was northbound when the deer attempted unsuccessfully to cross the roadway. The Yukon sustained minor damages and was able to be driven from the scene, police said.

• Doris I. Batchler, 88, of Saylorsburg, sustained suspected minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 2:09 p.m. Oct. 22 at the intersection of Route 611 and Price Drive in Hamilton Township.

Police said she was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital for an evaluation after the crash.

They said she was driving a 2013 Toyota Camry northbound, making a left turn onto Rt. 611. They said Batchler turned before it was safe to do so, resulting in the Camry striking a 2017 Mercedes-Benz operated westbound by a 17-year-old boy from East Stroudsburg. He and a passenger, Michal A. Sulek, 49, also of East Stroudsburg, were uninjured, police said.

Police said both vehicles came to rest in the intersection. The Camry was towed from the scene while the Mercedes was able to be driven from the intersection.

Police said Batchler was cited for “turning movements and required signals.”

• The driver of a 2015 Jaguar that struck a deer at 7:26 p.m. Oct. 14 on Route 33 in Ross Township escaped injuries.

State police said the vehicle was northbound when the driver was unsuccessful in attempting to avoid striking the deer that entered its lane of travel. The Jaguar continued to strike a guide rail off the left lane of travel. It sustained damages to its front-end and headlight assembly, as well as a punctured tire.

The driver was uninjured, police said.

• Two vehicles were damaged in a crash at 3:22 p.m. Sept. 15 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township. Police said a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder and a 2000 Peterbilt truck were side-by-side northbound when the Pathfinder began to merge from the right to left lane of travel and collided with the Peterbilt. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene. Police did not identify the drivers of the vehicles.

Jalen N. Fetherman, 21, of East Stroudsburg, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 4:12 p.m. Sept. 23 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2008 Hyundai Elantra northbound when he lost control of the vehicle. It struck the middle concrete barrier, exited the roadway and came to rest on the right shoulder of the road. The can had to be towed from the scene.

• Mary E. Ohlandt, 29, of East Stroudsburg, was cited with failure to drive at a safe speed after a two-vehicle mishap at 5:13 p.m. Oct. 7 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township. No one was injured in the incident.

Police said she was driving a 2013 Buick Regal eastbound when she failed to notice a 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia driven by Dylan A. Makarovsky, 21, of Nazareth, stop to turn north onto Rt. 33, and the Alfa Romeo Giulia struck the Regal, which became disabled in the eastbound lane.
