Banks supervisors updating ordinances

The Banks Township supervisors are updating township ordinances to address the present and prepare for the future.

The supervisors voted Monday night to approve a new township zoning map.

“We changed conservation districts in the (McAdoo) Industrial Park to industrial zones,” said Supervisor Charles Schalles.

The change was made in the industrial park - which is entirely in the township - to industrial zones to accommodate the construction of the largest indoor lettuce growing plant in the world by Little Leaf.

The supervisors also voted to adopt a new Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance.

The supervisors did that work with the help of ARRO Consulting, an engineering consulting firm, which has an office in Orwigsburg.

Chairman Bill Nice Jr. said the supervisors are looking into using ARRO for code enforcement.

Another of the township laws the supervisors are looking at changing is the noise ordinance, Nice said.

Nice said the supervisors filed a citation with District Magisterial Justice Joseph Homanko in Weatherly regarding trash that has gathered on Hemlock Street, between Pine and Spruce streets in Tresckow.
