State police at the Stroudsburg barracks said a 51-year-old man from Bushkill who was incarcerated in the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, had $8,400 stolen from him after a suspect used his debit card.

Police said they were called to the jail at 2:20 p.m. Oct. 3 where they were provided details of the theft. They said the victim, upon being jailed, gave his wallet that contained his ESSA Bank debit card to a friend. Police said the friend passed away and the friend’s son acquired the victim’s belongings as of Feb. 11, 2022.

They said in the commission of this crime, the friend’s son utilized the debit card for a total of a $8,400. Police said the victim was unable to provide an address, date of birth or phone number for the suspect.
