October 2, 1987 - John Woodring carries 25 times for 173 yards and four touchdowns to help Tamaqua earn a 42-36 upset win over host Danville. With the Blue Raiders, coached by Wayne Schickram up 10-6 in the second quarter, Woodring collects scoring runs of eight and 53 yards to extend the lead. He adds a pair of 2-yard TD runs in the second half to help hold off an Ironman squad that had only allowed 20 points in their last four games. Tamaqua also receives an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from Frank Wilson, who also kicks a 28-yard field goal. Quarterback Brian Hess adds a 1-yard scoring plunge.
