Tamaqua library events

The Tamaqua Public Library has a new offering of programs that families will love. Stop in to the library, at 30 S. Railroad St., or call 570-668-4660 to register.

• The International View the Moon Day is Saturday, Oct. 21. The program features a special story time all about the moon.

The program is at 10 a.m. for children up to age 5 and at 11 a.m. for children in kindergarten through third grade. Stop by for a story, craft, and snack, all about the moon. Every child will leave with a lunar map for viewing the moon later that night.

• The Autumn Reading Program, for children in kindergarten through third grade, will be held Mondays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23 through Nov. 27. The program includes reading, a snack, and STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Children must be registered for this program.

• The Harry Potter Experience is on Saturday, Nov. 18 from noon to 3 p.m. for children ages 10 and up. Upon arrival, children will be sorted into houses to begin their Hogwarts Experience.

The program includes a potions class, a Tri-Wizard tournament, herbology, a game of Quidditch, O.W.L.S., and field trip to Ollivandor’s and Gringott’s Bank. Preregistration is required for this program .

• The library now has more than 800 Accelerated Reader books. Stop in today and borrow your child’s Accelerated Reader for school. Books are also available upon request.
