Kids Closet Sale in full swing in Slatington

The Kids Closet Sale began its fall sale Tuesday at the Slatington Expo Center on Route 873 in Slatington.

This is the last sale for the year, and the shelves are filled with clothing for every season, said Jennifer Benninger, advertising director at the Times News Media Group, and coordinator for the Kids Closet Sale.

Along with the traditional fall and winter clothing, Benninger said families can also save on any season of new or gently-used clothing, toys and household items, whether it be shorts, coats, boots, sandals, swim or snow gear.

She said the sale offers something for everyone with more than 13,000 items, such as children’s new and gently-used clothing, sizes newborn through junior, as well as home décor, toys, books and sports gear.

“We help local families to buy things for their children and themselves not at full costs, to help them with their budgets,” Benninger said. “We also help the consignor families sell items they don’t need anymore to make money to buy stuff they do need.”

Benninger said the Slatington Expo Center is the perfect place for the event to be staged.

“We love this location,” she said. “Everything is on the same level, which makes for easy shopping, and lots of shopping.”

Each item goes through an inspection process which checks for damage, stains and imperfections to ensure good quality. All electronic devices will include batteries and can be tested on site.

Hundreds of items are donated after the sale to a local church and any blankets, pillows and suitable stuffed animals to an animal shelter.

Public shopping hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, and the half-price sale (on most items) is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. New moms and VIP Pass Holders shopped early from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The first 300 shoppers who attend the Kids Closet Sale received a swag bag containing goodies from sponsors. There will also be ticket giveaway to the Crayola Experience in Easton, two per family while supplies last.
