September 13, 1986 - David Horvath of Palmerton finishes over a minute faster than the next closest runner to capture first place in the Sixth Annual Palmerton Area Education Association/Hospital Festival 10-K run. Horvath clocks in with a time of 31:32, easily topping Matthew Worman’s showing of 32:33. Former Palmerton distance runner Georgianna Messinger ties her own race record of 36:50 to take honors among the female runners. Finishing behind her is Susan Anthony. A two-mile Fun Run is also held, with Ray Ziegenfuss Jr. winning the race in 12:03.
